“Why can’t I just stick to something?”
I’ve heard this question more times than I can count.
You know what it’s like:
Every meal measured.
Every rule followed.
And for a while, this worked.
Until it didn’t.
Life got busy.
Something throws you off.
And suddenly you’re “off track”.
Then comes the frustration.
The guilt.
The self-talk.
The feeling of starting all over again.
The Real Reason Diets Don’t Work
Let’s be real for a moment.
If diets actually worked long term, you would only need to go one of them.
But most diets are not designed for real life. They rely on restriction.
Hard and fast rules relying on you cutting out anything remotely tasty or fun.
And that might feel doable for a short time.
However, eventually life steps in to remind you it’s not sustainable long term, nor is it enjoyable.
You get invited out to dinner, or have a family celebration, or have a stressful week, and suddenly the plan goes out the window.
The Cycle That Keeps You Stuck
This is where the cycle begins.
You fall off the plan.
You feel like you’ve failed.
You blame yourself, or the plan, or both.
Then you start again.
New diet.
New rules.
Same outcome.
I see this all the time with women, and it’s exhausting.
The Strategy For A Life Long Successful Nutrition Plan
Here’s what most women get wrong.
They think success comes from eating perfectly, but it doesn’t.
Success comes from being consistent, and consistency only happens when something feels manageable in all areas of life.
If the plan is restrictive, overwhelming, or has too many rigid rules, you eventually toss it out.
This is what I coach my clients.
I don’t teach them how to diet, starve themselves or miss out on their favorite food.
Instead, I focus on helping them create structure that fits real life, following some basic concepts.
We include protein, to supports your metabolism and helps you feel satisfied.
And we include healthy fats, because your hormones need them, and they help reduce cravings.
Meals are built around vegetables, for fibre, vitamins, minerals, better digestion, and overall health.
Carbohydrates are not removed. Instead, they are chosen and adjusted based on your body type, goals, training regime and lifestyle.
And This Is The Most Important Part
We factor in treats and fun food. Cos life is too short to miss out on things you love.
Flexibility, is super important.
Because if your plan doesn’t allow you to live your life, you won’t stick to it.
You need to be able to go out for dinner, enjoy a glass of wine and sit down with your family and eat without stress.
Oh, and without cooking separate meals for everyone as though you’re running an a la carte restaurant!
That’s real life, and your nutrition needs to support that.
This Is Where Everything Shifts
Healthy eating is not about being “on” or “off” a “diet”.
It’s about creating something sustainable, that works on your busiest days.
Something that supports you, not controls you.
That way, you can focus on all the other things that matter in your life without any added pressure.
And without jeopardising your goals or health.
