
This week we celebrate the awesome Rose Latina!
Rose Initially signed up with Terrific Fitness Group Fitness classes in May 2021 and has since worked through our group fitness, our nutrition and mindset workshops, our Nutrition Coaching Program and our Healthy Habits Programs, to learn, grow and work towards her goals.
In January 2022 Rose was struggling massively with movement. Nothing was helping with pain relief and with her first grandchild on the way, Rose began to worry about how much pain she was in as well as how she would be able to help when her grandchild was born. Rose attended a consultation with Coach Emilia and was given some mobility to help aid her tight muscles to allow for more movement. However, although they provided some relief Rose was still engulfed in pain and lost as to what to do. Rose went from doing multiple classes a week, to being limited to only 2, and struggled to get through them without pain, most of the time.
In May 2022 Rose felt lost as her pain was still persistent, so signed up to Personal Training with me (Coach Jamie). Rose and I started our journey working towards pain free living.
In our initial assessment Rose had extremely minimal movement. Simply walking sent shooting pain through her knees and back, let alone performing any exercise movements such as squats. We worked as a team to refine her food, eliminating all inflammation foods that had crept in. We worked on increasing mobility and flexibility to get more movement within the joint capsules as well as working on Rose’s physical strength, slowly incorporating higher weight bearing activities to strengthen her muscles that had gotten weaker from avoiding movement. We also worked on Rose learning to trust her body to return to challenging herself physically, and not let the fear and anxiety around her past pain hold her back any longer.
January 2023 Rose has now almost complete range of motion through her knees with minimal pain. Rose is able to perform shoulder, chest and back exercises without excruciating shoulder and neck pain. Rose’s knees can withstand the impact from walking, running and climbing stairs, and she is able to shift from the floor to standing so much easier. All this means she can enjoy quality time with her young grandchild.
Rose is now always up for a challenge and now always attempts movement that she once feared due to risk of pain. Overall, Rose is more mobile, more lively and has reduced her pain level which felt like a 10/10 most days, down to a tolerable level where Rose can enjoy life again.
Rose has gained good quality of life back and is now happier, stronger and more mobile and can enjoy the small things in life again without living in pain. Well done Rose on all your hard work! Keep it up!

Here is Rose’s story in her words:
“My life was back-pain, joint pain, depression, I was angry, and had weight gain.
I had done my back in 2013, bulging discs, and I had limited movement and I was scared to move.
Then menopause came and caused havoc as well, more pain, more weight gain. Not eating regularly with the fear of gaining more weight.
Only exercise I did was walk maybe 2-3 times a week.
I decided to look for somewhere to train for a couple of reasons, the limited movement, constant pain and weight gain.
I came across Terri’s book a few years ago at the acupuncturist I was seeing at the time. Then I worked with someone that knew Terri personally and she convinced me to give it a go.
Now I stay because of the results I see, the friendly members and lovely helpful staff.
I changed my eating habits, eating minimal carbs, more veggies, protein at every meal, and eating regularly. In the past I’d be lucky if I had 2 meals a day.
When I started, I did 2 classes per week, now doing 5 plus PT once a week.
Since starting with TF, I am stronger, have lost about 10kgs, I have more movement, and my moods are better too. I can actually vacuum the house without being in pain.
What I love most about me today versus me before starting at TF is my strength and knowledge about eating and eating correctly.
