Today we celebrate Jessica Parris
Jessica joined Terrific Fitness in June 2021. Already participating in group exercise and a member of Lalor Running Club and the parkrun community with her husband, Jessica wanted to gain better knowledge of food, making better choices, structuring a lifestyle of eating for weight loss, and breaking some old habits. Her energy levels were a bit low. Her digestion patterns troublesome and water intake was in the dark both with how much she needed, its importance and how she was accounting for it.
Over the course of a year and under my guidance, Jess established a good eating pattern, accountability and got to learn about her choices in food in a gradual sequence, improved her digestion, and food began to go down better than before. Jessica experimented with new food regimes, such as breaking from the traditional norms of what she ate for breakfast and having chicken and vegetables instead. Water intake became a better thought process, and she became better aware of intake. All these changes began to turn the tide of health for Jessica, and along with some Personal Training exercise regimes hitting the weights, building strength, gaining better mobility, changes took effect in a positive manner.
Some habits hard to break, until a realization in May of this year and a planned holiday overseas. Jessica wanted to make a real difference and shed weight. A determination not only to try something new, but a change up to make a difference and be successful. Jessica had always heard of the Terrific Fitness Nutrition Program that involved clean eating and resetting hormones and had great success. Now was the time to commit and drive an ambition before an overseas holiday.
So, Jess embarked the regime of clean eating and developing the skills of preparing and setting out a food plan whilst learning along the way. As her coach, it was laid out and an accounting process of daily interaction, conversation (mostly via messenger and face to face weekly meetings) and food diaries began a process of a day-by-day pattern that developed Jessica’s habit forming.
One of Jessica’s strongest attributes are her determined will to make something work and to stick by it without compromise or straying. With chocolate, sweets, and alcohol the biggest tempts, her strong will to succeed, she knew what she had to do, and the reason for doing it. She gave it her best shot and stayed true through the 2-week nutrition plan called the ‘bootcamp’ phase.
By the end of the Nutrition Program, she had achieved the following:
- No alcohol
- Structured eating plan and preparation regime (daily)
- More conscious of water intake and accountability
- 6.1kg weight loss
- 5cm loss from her waist
- 3cm loss from her hips
- Other bio feedback markers in menstrual pattern, libido, stress levels to name a few, all on the improve.
Throughout the 4 weeks of the program, her understanding of the knowledge of food had been further strengthened by the applications she had made and now understands how the body works with different food disciplines. Her ability to read food labels, her daily check ins with me, her coach, her accountability through food diaries, and bringing her husband on board in the supportive roll, have all been the contributing factors.
But there are other facets of Jessica she can tell you about.
- Coach Steve
So, let’s hear it in her words:
“Before joining TF and doing the Nutritional Bootcamp some of the issues/challenges I faced were:
- Over-eating
- Lack of understanding of food composition and how it affects my body
- Snacking often between meals
- Snacking on the wrong foods sometimes
These issues have now been addressed. I now have a better understanding of the foods I am eating and what makes up a portion/serve of the foods I am eating. I am now better at limiting my indulgence/cheat meal to one meal a week/fortnight rather than making a whole weekend habit of it every week.
I’ve Lost 6-6.5kgs by training and eating portion-controlled meals consisting of the right food groups.
I always used to feel fat in my clothes and not confident, now I have more confidence in my appearance and feel comfortable in myself without that fat feeling. People have commented on how skinny I am looking which shows my hard work has paid off. I still have some off days, but we all have those.” – Jessica Parris
